The Land Run of 1889

Amy took me to see the Land Run statues in Oklahoma City which were literally larger than life. A very poignant reenactment of those wanted to stake their claim on unassigned land. Definitely click on the above link to learn more.
My grandpa had strong Oklahoma roots.
When I was at the Getty in LA last week we went to a bronze sculpture exhibit; a pain staking, multi-faceted process for even a small piece. I can't even begin to imagine the time it took to create each piece of this monument, which was so detailed-oriented and one that captured emotion and movement.
To give you an idea of the size...
Approaching the water...
The artist even went so far as to include horse shoe prints on the water's edge.
